This is just what I was looking for. A lightweight app, not bloated with tons of features I don’t (personally) need. There was an issue with an Apple update that broke the app, an email to the the support staff was quickly returned with a solution, I also received a personal email following up on my concerns. Thanks to those guys!

We love this simple to use program! It accomplishes what we need for our personal accounts as well as a business acct. Although we’ve not needed support up to this point in time, it sounds like the staff at CheckBookPro go above and beyond for their customers! Think about it. . .actual customer service as reported from other reviews that is awesome, great and amazing! Actually, I experienced it today (2/23/16). Contacted support with a question and received a response in less than 15 minutes. We believe you will be very happy with this program. Thank you CheckBookPro!

I am a treasurer for an organization and had been using an old version of Quicken. It was adequate, but still too much for the job at hand. I was looking for something like this that did not cost over $100…Quicken for Mac. And I found. What amazes me is how much there is, especially the report area…I am able to customize reports that make sense for the organziation relative to finances each month easily. And I’m not getting bothered as with Quicken to buy something new every week. Keep up the good work…a great product reasonably priced!!!

Transferring data from (the much-hated) Quicken for Mac was fast and easy. Screen layout is easy to use, making data entry in Checkbook Pro a simple. matter. Software seems stable, although I still make back-up copies. Very glad I made the move.

I have used other programs and so far this one is so easy to use and very simple to understand. The new Quicken programs are very complicated.

This is very high quality checkbook register with good account control, viewing options, and reporting. My only wish is a mobile version.

Recently I was unable to open my file and I had to reinstall the program and input a lot of my lost data. This was really disturbing.

ITS A LITTLE CONFUSING FOR ME BUT I’M GETTING USED TO IT SLOWLY. WHEN I RUN INTO A PROBLEM, HE CULPRIT IS ALWAYS ME. I KNOW I”LL LOVE IT IN NO TIME.

Excellent application has saved me many headaches

I’ve been using a different app for years which just went to a web based subscription model so the search began for a replacement. I asked some friends for suggestions and one of them who’s used the original CheckBook app (still available here also) for many years told me about this. So I decided to go with the Pro version after looking into it and I am very pleased with the app. It does just what I need without a lot of stuff I do not need. It’s easy to make it your own so far as what accounts you want to setup and handles all the basics as you’d expect. It has some nice configurable reporting options with a bunch of useful reports already setup for you. Each of these you can easily modify to suit yourself or you can just roll your own as desired. I like that it supports saving my data on iCloud and also has a back up feature so I keep an extra folder in iCloud where I save the backups periodically just in case. Like any new app of this kind, there’s a few things to learn but honestly I found it very intuitive and when I did have a couple questions the developer was quick to return a helpful reply answering them for me. They are friendly and offer good support. It’s no wonder this company and this app has been around for a long time. It supports import and export to various common formats and I had no problem importing years of data on the first try. It was flawless. I love it when stuff just works and this app does. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to a friend. I consider it a 5 star app. It does what they say it will, does it well and has been rock solid stable. The only caution I would offer is that if you are looking for something to be just like Quicken for Windows was, this app does not attempt to do budgeting, money spent vs the budget, charting that stuff, tracking net worth over time, etc. Personally, I am just fine with this because I prefer to do it my way in the Apple Numbers app. I’ve always done my budgeting in a spreadsheet going back to the 80s. So an app like this is perfect for me. Keep in mind though, the reports do offer some simple bar charts of income and expenses summarized in various ways, etc. so this app does provide useful features like that. It’s just budget vs actual and forecasting stuff it does not do as of this version anyway. The name CheckBook Pro is fitting as such where that’s the focus although certainly not limited to checking account and it does a lot more than a simple check register. Again, I am very happy with it myself. Last but not least, please keep in mind that it is possible that while I have been using it a lot since I got it, I may have missed capabilities it has where I never felt the need (yet) to go check out their help videos and other support on their site. So, maybe it does track net worth over time somehow for example and I am incorrect about that. It’s easy to use and reliable. It handles multiple bank accounts and credit cards. Easy to backup and secure. Finally its reasonably priced. I’ve been using the Pro version for years and will continue to use it for years to come.

Without a doubt, this is the best designed and easiest-to-use checkbook Ive ever had.

Efficient and Simple. Exactly what you need in a banking program. I was having technically issues with my MAC after the OS X El Capitan Update and wrote CheckBook Pro Customer Service for Help. They went above and beyond what I expected to solve the issue. I will be a Splasm customer for life!

So... I bought a new Mac, so my old (2007) Quicken no longer works. The new Quicken might be good for experts, but it is now expensive and crazy complex— all I want is the ability to balance several accounts (checking, savings, Visa, etc.), and create reports- to see where the money went, and for taxes. Time to buy something new. Checkbook Pro came well recommended, and I agree- it is pretty good! It took a bit to get used to the app, and to set up the accounts, but I expected that. Entry isn’t as easy as the old Quicken, but it is still pretty good. It will work fine for me. The reports I want are a bit… clunky. I mainly want the detailed year-to-date report, subtotaled by category. My first printed report, covering two months, covers 13 pages- the report inserts lots of spaces, and most entries are two lines long. The report is plenty good enough, but it takes too much paper. Maybe I’m not doing it right. Or maybe the authors will be creating a new, more condensed report. anyway, for now, the app works fine. I like it, and recommend it.

I have yet to see a sync mechanism with my bank, nor does it have the ability to use my phone so I can enter on the go. It works, and is ok.

I needed a good check register for 5 accounts, personal and non profit clubs I am treasurer of. It has been great. Serves me well. I don’t use anything but the check register and reconciling and scheduled payment functions, but they are great.

I find this scales perfectly and flexible enough to adapt to my small business. I can’t think of anything I’d change; I’d like to see a cloud-based version accessible from all mobile devices :)

Just another worthless version of Quicken

Not even one month and asking me to rate it hasn’t given me enough time to use the reconciliation or some other features, therefore I cannot say if I totally like it or not as of yet. You need to give someone at least 3 months before asking so they have the ability to use the software and get a decent feeling of whether or not it is useful to them.
