CheckBook Pro App Reviews

105 Customer Reviews:

I have been using CheckBook Pro for a couple of months and am impressed with the program. I was looking for a program to replace MS My Money and this fits my needs nicely, as it was easy to adapt and setting up accounts is straight forward. Color coded debits and deposits facilitates entries and balancing the check book periodically.

It has been released several days ago. When will we be so lucky as to see it also here? Our registration fees ar not good? Me again. After 2 weeks from release of vers. 2.5 the developers have updated to 2.5.1, but here we do not see anything. Not very reliable, I dare say… But we have paid… Me again, alas. After almost 5 weeks from release of vers. 2.5, the "normal" users are now at 2.5.2. All of them, except us, Apple Store registered buyers. What to say?

I love it. It doesn’t have all of the bells and whistles of some applications, but that actually is what makes it so great. Good functionality, no bugs, been keeping my checkbook and scheduled payments here for years.

Been using this for my personal finance tracking for over two years. Just bought a new MacBook and was thrilled to see I could easily sync with my desktop Mac. The more I use it, the more features I find. great product.

I have been a Quicken user for many, many years. After purchasing a MAC, I spent some time reviewing different finance programs for basic household accounting and checking. I cam across CheckBook Pro and decided to try it. I recently completed my first reconciliation against my bank statement and everything proceeded without any issues. My needs are pretty basic; but, wanted a program that will provide a yearly breakdown of all pertinent tax information. So far, I am very pleased with it. The reason for the 4 stars is simply because I haven’t used the program long enough to truly assess it.

I’d used MS Money for years, but hated the more recent versions. Even those stopped being supported years ago. Quicken and I have never gotten along, though I tried at least twice. Less then 2 months after purchasing the most recent version of Quicken for Mac, I was still using the paper accounting ledger for tracking our family’s income and expenses. I really wanted to get away form pencil and paper, but nothing seemed to meet my needs. I wanted something simple, reliable, and with enough flexibility to let me do the kinds of things small families with regular jobs and bills need to do. This program does it!

Just purchased and the first thing I did was mis-name the accounts document. There is no way to fix it. I deleted the document and all that did was freeze the app. I had to force quit the app and restart. There needs to be a way to fix something like that without having to start over. If I had been using the app for a few months and that occurred, well, at this point I must be nicer about the app than I feel.

Fits My Needs Thus Far!

I’ve just been putting collected data on the app. I’ve yet to separate categories into reports needed for various expenses but so far I’m happy.

I have always used Quicken Essentials but found that it doesn’t always convert when updating to a new OS on my Mac. I’m hoping CheckBook Pro will convert easily. Thankful that it does everything I want it to do and is very easy to use!

Ok I can;t get it to import my bank transactions right so I guess I can;t use it. As I remember it looses files anyway then all my transactions have to be imported again so I guess no big loss. I’ll just go back to my old trusty fallback app…Numbers spreadsheet. Always works

This app does the job for what it sets out to do. If you need a basic checkbook register with some extra reporting and sorting features, this is the one to get. Don’t use the basic version, get the pro version, you won’t be disappointed. One thing I wish it had though is the ability to directly enter information in the check register itself rather than using the popup data entry window. Although, I have gotten used to this new workflow since leaving the last “non-cloud” version of You Need A Budget (YNAB). Between this app and my well-developed spreadsheet, my budget is intact and doing quite well!

I have been a Quicken user for years, then I upgraded my OS to Sierra and found that Quicken Essentials was no longer compatible so I tried Checkbook Pro and have been very pleased with the results. Had some minor issues to start but figured it out without having to call support. I would recommend this program.

I have used this app for many years. It is exactly what I need to keep up with several different bank accounts, etc. Reconciling statements is uncomplicated! When I need to locate a particular entry, it is easy to do. Thank you for a great Checkbook program!

I have been a Quick Books Pro user for years. But I can no longer justify the expense of that program. CheckBook Pro looks good and has done everything I need for a reasonable price. There is very little learning needed to get everything set up. So far, I have no complaints and am glad I found this handy app!!

Just updated to Sierra to find Quicken Essentials no longer working. Because Apple makes it next to impossible to “Go Back” to your old OS, had to find something else. CheckBook Pro almost fills the bill. All I used Quicken for was my checking account and printing checks. CheckBook Pro obviously does not print checks. That said, Importing Quicken Essentials Data into CheckBook Pro was a snap. Took longer to find the file on my computer than it did to import it. Very satisfied. Now if just printed checks.

Check Book Pro

So far its a great app, I am having problems downloading from a QFX file. I have to Manually log entries. but It is easy to control.

Could be a little more intuitive. But for the price - I am loving it. Quickbooks was just way too much for my personal and small business accounts. I don’t use it for invoicing or anything like that, just as a basic check register that can remember my auto payments.
